About Amy

“In the end, she became more than what she expected. She became the journey, and like all journeys, she did not end, she just simply changed directions and kept going.” -R.M. Drake

I’m Amy K. A wife, mom, country mouse turned expat turned city mouse, and a counselor. I’ve been slowly but steadily chipping away at my LPC Intern hours, focusing on adolescent, child, and family counseling, since returning to the US from Australia a couple of years ago. I’ve dabbled in a hospital setting (intake & outpatient), non-profit (community outreach), a school (guidance & life coaching), & private practice (groups & individual). I’m half-way finished with my hours and at a cross-roads in deciding which direction my career will take: school counseling or private practice or non-profit work??? Or just call it a day after getting that pesky “Intern” taken off my credentials so I can go back to focusing on my family and household. I’m setting up this blog at the beginning-middle of this journey to document what I learn along the way and create an online portfolio of sorts for my practice and my successes (& failures) at maintaining healthy life and family balance as I do so.
